Environmentally Friendly Hybrid Vehicles Gaining in Popularity

Hybrid vehicles are becoming all the rage in popularly driven vehicles. Many consumers are making the sensible choice of owning a hybrid. Hybrid vehicles are stylish, trendy and carry a good reputation. It is no surprise that more consumers are focusing on the idea of helping to solve the ongoing problem of poor quality air pollution. This is what draws many sensible individuals to hybrid vehicle models. Hybrids are wallet and environmentally friendly. Their design is sympathetic to environmental issues, therefore, governments, businesses and public consumers are giving it notice.

Hybrids carry their environmentally friendly label, since the power source is an efficient system, which combines small electric and gasoline engines. These two work independently of the other and in tandem, creating one of the most effective means of transportation. The smaller hybrid gasoline engine operates on less fuel than the conventional gasoline powered vehicle. This enables hybrid owners to pay less for gas, since the hybrid uses less gasoline. Hybrids emit fewer toxic fumes. Experts agree that characteristically, hybrids emit up to ninety percent fewer pollutants of traditional vehicles. Amazing statistics such as this are the cause of many of the newer developments and incentives on offer to hybrid consumers.

Hybrids are hard to refuse, with so many interesting incentives on offer. Even businesses have begun to offer employee incentives to those who already own or plan to purchase a hybrid. For instance, Google offers an incentive of $5000 to each employee towards a purchase of a new hybrid. Hyperion, a software company in Santa Clara, California offers such cash incentives as well. Millions of dollars are set aside in the yearly budget of most companies that compensate for these cash incentives.

These large corporations are giving their employees a wonderful opportunity as a means of giving something back to the communities. They consider that their locations keep them in business through sales; therefore, in return, they want to give back to their communities by helping to improve the air quality. Some companies such as Google have even gone so far as to provide extensive group transportation schedules, in order to further the positive influence the air quality of the community.

Local governments across the United States are paying a great deal of attention to the fact that hybrids are so environmentally friendly. Offers of free parking to hybrid drivers, is an incentive of some local governments. For instance, many metropolis areas such as Los Angeles, allow hybrid vehicles to park free of charge at parking meters and in city lots. These incentives prove that local governments are showing support for sensible and environmentally wise consumer shopping. When everyone in a community focuses on becoming environmentally responsible, a common goal is formed which leads to an overall better community.

In addition to government and employee incentives, several insurance companies offer incentives to hybrid vehicle owners, as a reward for their sensible choice. However, these insurance companies are not offering these discounts as incentive, because they think that hybrid owner will not place a claim on their case. Although, at this time, there is no substantial data that can determine what the risks hybrid drivers may or may not experience with insurance companies. These incentives are merely a means for these companies to promote a more environmentally sensible decision by automobile consumers.

While watching the daily news or weather channels, we hear about the risks of air pollution and global warming. Living in a large city may have smog alerts that are as serious as a tornado warning. It is true, the damages of air pollution to the earth and humans is overwhelming. When it concerns pollutants, it is our responsibility to make educated and sensible choices. Anytime we can cut down on our own personal pollution levels is an incredible thing. Although, with the schedules we keep, staying busier than ever, it is not likely that we will do without our vehicles for the greater good of the planet. However, everyone can profit by the nice middle ground that hybrids provide. With local governments, corporations and consumers realizing the potential benefits of driving a hybrid, there is a long waiting list for the newest arrivals of hybrids. The hybrid is the future of automobiles!
